Step Out: Walk to STOP Diabetes
On behalf of the team at Profil Institute for Clinical Research, I am honored and proud to be the 2011 Corporate Chairperson for the American Diabetes Association’s Step Out: Walk to STOP Diabetes in San Diego.
The ADA is one of the strongest advocates for patients with Diabetes, in particular in supporting scientific excellence and research programs, hence supporting progress towards better treatments of the disease.
On behalf of the millions of patients with Diabetes the ADA is also one of the most active lobbyists in the political and medical care arena, committed to improve the life of every patient with Diabetes, ~ 24 million in the US alone. Considered that projections tell us that in just a few years from now 1 out of 3 kids is expected to develop Diabetes, everyone can understand immediately why it is in our own best interest as a nation and as businesses to not only support the ADA but in essence to join forces with the American Diabetes Association in the fight against Diabetes, and for better treatments.
I would like to invite you to join me for the 2011 ADA -

ISCR 2010 presentation
At this year's annual meeting of the Indian Society for Clinical Research (ISCR) in Bangalore, India, on January 7-9, Dr. Marcus Hompesch gave an invited presentation on challenges during early phase cincial development of Diabetes drugs.
The presentation was very well received and led to interesting discussions with both academic researchers and scientists from the bio-pharmaceutical industry.
Historically, there has been very limited Phase I study work completed by Indian bio-pharmaceutical companies. However, with an increasing number of innovator compounds advancing from pre-clinical to clinical stage in India, there is growing interest in the early phase clinical research process. Of particular interest was the case study presented of a first-in-man study conducted in the disease population (Diabetes).

As part of our mission to find better treatments for Diabetes and Obesity, we are proud to support others in our community who encourage lifestyle changes to improve their health.
One such organization is insulinDependence.org, whose mission is to inspire people with Diabetes to set personal fitness goals, educate them on adaptive management strategies through hands-on experience, and equip them to explore their individual capacities.
We are sponsoring a group of Type I diabetics who participated in January's Carlsbad Marathon as Glucomotive, under the umbrella of insulinDependence. This is the second year we have partnered with this organization and we encourage you to join in supporting them.
